History ||
Daryl was born and raised in a small town outside Griffin, Ga; he was the youngest of two sons. He didn't have a happy childhood growing up. His mother was always too busy getting drunk to notice him and his father was abusive. Daryl's mother died when he was very young and a few years later his older brother, Merle, took off leaving Daryl in the hands of their violent father.
He had to grow up quickly and learn how to fend for himself from early age. Daryl became very resourceful because of his difficult life as a kid. He was lost in the woods for days and had to survive on him own. Daryl had to find his way back home because no one came out to look for him. His sense of self-worth was damaged over the years. When Merle was home Daryl followed him around and tended to do whatever Merle wanted him to. He loved his brother; Merle was the only person Daryl believed who loved him back. It wasn't a healthy relationship and Merle bullied him, but Merle was family and that was all that mattered to Daryl.
When the turn happened Daryl was out with his brother. They were equipped to survive the end of the world. Daryl was a tracker and adept survivalist, but they joined a group of survivors outside Atlanta with the intent to rob them. Daryl didn't really want to do that though but he was following Merle's lead. It was at the camp that Daryl met Rick Grimes and not under the best circumstances since Rick left Merle handcuffed at the top of a building back in Atlanta.
Daryl went after Merle but the small search party failed to find the older Dixon. Without Merle's overbearing presence around Daryl started to make his own choices and he began to make connections with the survivors. He became close to Carol after looking for her little girl, Sophia, and she became one of his closest friends. Daryl also became a worth ally to Rick and a close friend. The bond between the two men grew stronger over time (especially after Lori's death when Daryl was determined to keep Judith safe and the group alive).
After the group lost the Greene farm and found the prison, a sense of community began to develop. It seemed like they finally had found a safe place but in the world they lived on it was just a matter of time until they all had to run. Daryl was reunited with Merle when a man calling himself The Governor kidnapped Maggie and Glenn but the two Dixon brothers reunion was short lived. Merle ended up sacrificing himself to buy the group more time in the fight against The Governor. Daryl found his brother as walker and had to put him down.
It nearly killed Daryl to see his brother like that.
The group had a win over The Governor but the threat returned some time later destroying their home and killing one of the most beloved members of the group: Hershel. After the fall of the prison, Daryl fled with Beth, Hershel's youngest daughter and it was just the two of them for some time. Daryl shut down and it was on survival mode the days following the fall of the prison but somehow Beth broke through his walls and they bonded. Daryl opened up to her about his past and he ended up developing feelings for her but one night she was taken by a black car with a white cross painted on its rear windshield. Daryl tried to chase after the car and run the whole night but ended up losing the track at a crossroads.
Daryl joined a gang lead by a man named Joe and after traveling with them Daryl started to adopt their self-serving ways. He knew he couldn't make alone anymore. He had tried, but Daryl's allegiance with Joe ended when they run into Rick, Carl and Michonne one night and Joe and his men tried to rape and murder them. Daryl helped Rick take the group down and the next day they made their way to Terminus.
Terminus was too good to be true and they were locked in a boxcar where they were reunited with the rest of the group. They planned to fight and escape. Daryl and the others had their chance to fight their way out with the help of Carol who blew up a tank as a distraction unknown to them at the time. Daryl was happy to be reunited with his friend who had been banished before the prison fell and Daryl had no idea if he was ever going to see her again. Now with Tyreese and Judith they were back to the road.
The group found Father Gabriel in the woods a few days later and took refuge in his church where they discussed going to D.C. Daryl ended up driving off with Carol when he saw a car similar to the one who had taken Beth. He followed the car to Atlanta where eventually met Noah and found out a group of cops was keeping Beth at the Grady Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately Carol was hit by one of the Grady cars and taken too. Back at the church Daryl got the news of Bob's death and that Maggie and Glenn had left with Abraham and his people.
Daryl and some of the others returned to Atlanta to rescue Beth and Carol but things didn't happen according to the plan and Beth was shot in the head. Daryl lost her that day and once again he shut down. Daryl was on survival mode again. When Carol gave him Beth's knife he allowed himself to feel her loss and the guilty of how he hadn't been able to safe her. He wanted to protect her and he had failed.
After meeting Aaron and finding a safe place in Alexandria, Daryl tried to make it work but nothing seemed to matter to him anymore. He didn't want to be in Alexandria. He didn't feel like he belonged there...it didn't make sense for him to be there without Beth.
He got a job as a recruiter and made a new friend in Aaron. It was a decent deal for him. It kept him surviving and going forward for now anyway. Daryl is surviving but he's not really living.

Role-play example ||
Two days after the storm hit Alexandria the sun finally came out and Daryl scheduled a run. He wad going alone. Aaron was sick and was unable to convince Daryl to wait for another day or so until he was better to tag along. Daryl just couldn't wait anymore. The walls were suffocating him and he needed to be out there. He assured Rick and the others he would be okay and that he wouldn't get to far.
Daryl plotted a route through the map and marked a town a couple hours southwest of Alexandria as his probably destination. If he wasn't back in three days Rick could send a search party if he fell inclined to do so. Daryl would be back. He always managed to get back. He packed a few provisions, checked his bolts and weapons and mounted his bike. There were no goodbyes.
'I hate goodbyes.'
'Me too.'
The ride was uneventful and Daryl stopped just once to take a leak before he reached the outskirts of the town. He found an abandoned house off the road covered through some growths and trees and, parked the bike behind it. It seemed secluded enough to hide the bike while he checked a few nearby buildings on foot. It made no sense to risk riding through town without a recon first. The place would make a good place for him to spend the night too.
He secured the property before he made his way into town unimpressed by the situation. The world looked like shit here just like it did back in Georgia. Streets were mostly empty with a few stray walkers that Daryl didn't bother to kill yet. He circled a building and entered from the back to check the place.made by remi of rilla go!
